Key Facts
SIDA-CEL Soluble Haemostatic Gauze is of plant origin and comprises Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC) derived from oxidised regenerated cellulose.
On application the gauze rapidly absorbs water content of exudates forming a gelatinous mass which fills the wound voids at the same time sealing capillary ends causing immediate haemostasis.
It has a neutral pH on application which means patients experience no burning sensation.
Once haemostasis has been achieved the gauze can be removed using sterile water or saline.
The gauze is also used as a sleeve on PVA nasal sponge dressings to provide rapid haemostasis using swell and seal technology at the same time deliver better patient comfort.
SIDA-CEL is a Class 2a medical device and SIDA-CEL ENT a Class 1s medical device. They are both certified compliant to the requirements of the EU Medical Device Directives by Notified Body 0653
